Giants should aim to bring in another pitcher

The Giants could definitely use more talent in the rotation. They officially lost Rodon to the New York Yankees, which leaves a hole in the rotation. They did sign Sean Manaea and Ross Stripling which should help fill the hole, but the Padres and Dodgers both have extremely good rotations that will be hard to compete with without a few more talented arms.

Luckily, there are quite a few other pitchers remaining on the market that could have an impact. Nathan Eovaldi, Michael Wacha, Johnny Cueto, Corey Kluber and Drew Rucinski are still top options on the market, and the Giants shouldn’t struggle to sign at least one of them.

After the 2022 regular season, the Giants had the 13th-best ERA (3.85) in the league, the eighth-worst opponent batting average (.253) and 14th-worst WHIP (1.28). They slid backward quite a bit from 2021 where they had the second-best ERA (3.24), fifth-best OBA (.230) and second-best WHIP (1.15).

While aces Jacob deGrom and Justin Verlander are off the market and not many could make as big of an impact as those two would’ve, the remaining options are still likely to help improve the team overall.
