Potential 2023 lineup for the Chicago Cubs

Of course, Swanson isn’t the only new face coming to Wrigley Field in 2023. The Cubs also won the services of outfielder Cody Bellinger, who is hoping to rediscover his MVP form after being non-tendered by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Swanson and Bellinger will certainly bring some buzz to the Cubs lineup, with fans hoping the former can keep his dynamic 2022 going while the latter puts his last two years in the past.

Here’s how the Cubs lineup could look on Opening Day when Chicago hosts the Milwaukee Brewers on March 30.

Nico Hoerner, 2B

Dansby Swanson, SS

Ian Happ, LF

Seiya Suzuki, RF

Cody Bellinger, CF

Christopher Morel, 3B

Patrick Wisdom, DH

Yan Gomes, C

P.J. Higgins, 1B

On paper, it’s a solid lineup through the first four spots, with Bellinger’s return to his former form a question mark early on in the season and Morel looking to improve on a solid rookie season. Higgins will likely get an extended look in 2023, while Cubs fans hope that Wisdom and Gomes take a step up from last season’s numbers.
