Why Vikings can win the Super Bowl: Heart of a Champion

Gene Hackman’s character Coach Jimmy McGinty in the fabled football movie “The Replacements” told a reporter that his team needed “miles and miles of heart” to get back into a game. That’s exactly what the Vikings have been showing all season. Outside of the listless performance the Vikes showed again Dallas back in Week 11, the Vikings have always shown fight in their performances.

There is no quit in this team. Some have seen some of the craziest victories in the history of football (like this moment in 2018). Everyone saw that even a 33-point deficit can’t stop them from winning games. This team understands what it takes to make a comeback.

This team is used to making comebacks. So quickly we forget the Buffalo Bills game where the Vikings went into halftime losing 24-10 and went into the fourth quarter down by 10 points to one of the best teams in the NFL. They forced overtime and ended up beating Josh Allen and the Bills by three.

They ended up on the right side of back-and-forth games with the Patriots, Jets, and Lions as well. The Vikings are never out of the game, and nobody can put this team in the ground. The defense knows when to tighten up, the offense knows how to shoot for the fences, and the coaching staff knows how to change its strategy. But it all comes down to heart.
