The Minnesota Vikings are one of the best teams in the NFC, but not everyone considers them a true contender to win a Super Bowl. While they have a reputation when the lights shine brightest, this might be the right team at the right time to break Minnesota’s drought.

“Greatest of all time” is a term we often hear when talking about sports, but not often can it be backed up by undeniable statistics. However, the Minnesota Vikings put together the greatest comeback in NFL history this past Saturday. There’s no denying it because no team has ever come back from 33 or more points in the history of this league. The Vikings did that.

While the Indianapolis Colts aren’t exactly a Super Bowl contender, we still learned a lot about why the Vikings could raise the Lombardi Trophy in Glendale. This team has star power, great coaching, and a desire to make it happen. They’ve been here before and won playoff games together, but they’ve never made it to the Big Game. Let’s go through why this year might be different.

Why Vikings can win the Super Bowl: Justin Jefferson

Having the best player in the league at any position gives any team an advantage. Having it at one of the prime positions on the field is an advantage every single week. Justin Jefferson is a matchup nightmare for every team. It doesn’t matter the defense he’s facing, the game plan, or the talent in the secondary. Jefferson is going to win. He does it against double teams and triple teams. Nothing stops this man from getting the ball.

This kind of mismatch is what’s needed to win these games when they matter most. He has a ridiculous 1,623 yards this season. He has an outside chance to catch Calvin Johnson for most yards in a season; a record Cooper Kupp barely missed last season. This is a special player that the Vikings have. Having a player of his caliber who can constantly make plays can change the complexion of a playoff game at a moment’s notice.
