Ohio State vs Georgia bold predictions: 5 hot takes for the 2022 Peach Bowl
Georgia vs Ohio State, Peach Bowl bold prediction No. 4: Kendall Milton breaks off two 40+ yard rushes
There truly hasn’t been one dominant running back for the Bulldogs this season as they saw four different players rush for at least 500 yards and at least six touchdowns on the year with the tandem of Kenny McIntosh, Donovan Edwards and Kendall Milton.
While all three have obviously been terrific this season, though, it’s been Milton that has flashed the most with big plays, averaging 7.4 yards per carry to get 533 yards on only 72 carries this season compared to 5.2 yards per tote for McIntosh and 5.4 for Edwards. And as the Georgia offensive line wears down the Buckeyes front seven, we’ll see that big-play ability from the junior.
To cap off their win in Columbus, Donovan Edwards had touchdown runs of 75 yards and 85 yards to add an exclamation point for Michigan. I believe we see Milton do something similar as he breaks at least two carries on New Year’s Eve for 40+ yard gains and perhaps a score or two as well.
Georgia vs Ohio State, Peach Bowl bold prediction No. 3: Jalen Carter, J.T. Tuimoloau each have multiple TFLs
One thing that neither C.J. Stroud nor Stetson Bennett IV are too accustomed to seeing this season is a ton of pressure. Stroud only took eight sacks on the season while Bennett was only brought down eight times. Part of that is each player’s mobility but it’s also the strength of the offensive line as the Dawgs have arguably the best unit in the country and the Buckeyes have a slew of future NFLers up front.
Having said that, the lines will also be matching up against respective future Top 10 picks with Georgia’s Jalen Carter, perhaps the best overall player in the 2023 draft, and Ohio State’s J.T. Tuimoloau. And despite the matchup, both players won’t be kept quiet.
If there’s any weakness for the OSU line, it can be up the middle and Carter will make that seen as he’ll use his elite frame and explosiveness to routinely get into the backfield and make plays, ending the game with at least one sack and multiple tackles for loss. Tuimoloau, meanwhile, will get loose on the edge to bust up some runs quickly and perhaps stop Bennett a time or two from taking off as he’ll also record at least a pair of TFLs in the contest.
