NFL quarterbacks that could be traded in 2023 offseason: Trey Lance

Next up, and this might be a stretch, but Trey Lance just might be on the move. The San Francisco 49ers have proven to be a well-oiled machine, regardless of who is under center for them. For the majority of the season, it was Jimmy Garoppolo, who stepped in for an injured Lance and played very well.

After Garoppolo sustained an injury, as well, it was Mr. Irrelevant himself, Brock Purdy, who got the call. All he did was win football games, just like Garoppolo had been doing. Under Kyle Shanahan, it may not matter who plays quarterback with the weapons and scheme they’re playing with.

If the 49ers wanted to keep continuity, they could try and trade the former North Dakota State standout.

Lance hasn’t gotten a fair shake at the starting gig just yet, and that’s fair to point out. But, if the 49ers ran it back with Garoppolo and kept Purdy as the backup, it might very well be worth seeing what they could get in a trade for Lance. Let’s not forget the 49ers traded quite a bit to move up and get Lance in the 2021 NFL Draft, and with other teams likely viewing his potential to be high, San Francisco could net a nice haul of picks.
