4 Aaron Rodgers backup plans Packers need to consider

Best Aaron Rodgers backup plans for Packers: Anthony Richardson
A good ole fashioned draft pick is how most teams move on from superstars. The Packers could be no different. As discussed, the Packers already used one first-round pick on a quarterback, but Love might not be the guy. Florida Gators’ quarterback Anthony Richardson might be.
Richardson isn’t the winner that past Florida quarterbacks have been. He’s dealt with a controversial tenure that included coaching changes, mechanical breakdowns, and a plethora of frustration for his inability to find consistency.
His combination of skills is off the charts. He has everything a team can fall in love with. His mixture of size and speed at the position could turn him into one of the best players at the position. He needs to grow, and the Packers might allow him to do just that. Even if Rodgers stays for one more season, Richardson would be a smart play. Maybe call Rodgers first and don’t force him to drink four fingers of tequila because he was caught off guard, but if Rodgers is part of the decision, it could lead to a true mentor-mentee situation with one of the best to ever play the position.
If we were betting, go with Rodgers returning to the Packers to start the 2023 season. However, they need to prepare for anything. Richardson, Jones, Jackson, or even Love would be good players to transfer the position to next season and beyond.
