Michigan fans are having to come to grips with the possibility of losing Jim Harbaugh but some delusional supporters have a wild choice to replace him.

Despite the fact that Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh dropped to just 1-6 in bowl games after dropping his sixth straight with the Fiesta Bowl loss to TCU, Wolverines fans have to appreciate how well the program has built. For two consecutive years, the team has now not only overtaken rival Ohio State but has won the Big Ten Championship and made the College Football Playoff.

So as rumors are now fervently swirling that Harbaugh could leave for a return to the NFL, whether that’s the Broncos, Colts, Panthers or elsewhere remains undetermined, fans are trying to figure out what could be next if that happens.

Apparently, some fans have been thinking a bit too much about that.

A handful of message board posters discussing the topic have brought about the idea of Michigan not just hiring a former Ohio State head coach to replace Harbaugh, but doing so with one of the most hated former Buckeyes in history: Urban Meyer.

Michigan fans give wild replacement for Jim Harbaugh: Urban Meyer

Ohio might burst into a statewide riot if that ever happened.

There’s no question that Meyer knows how to win football games. When it comes to morals and his methods, however, that’s a different story. He certainly doesn’t fit the vaunted prototype of a Michigan man, and that’s before you ever even consider his former residency in Columbus.

Even more than that, though, Meyer doesn’t seem all that interested in leaving his FOX Sports gig right now to coach another program, especially after how disastrously his time in the NFL with the Jaguars went. So that makes it even less likely.

Full disclosure, this is just wildly incoherent message board fodder. But it’s almost so wild that you have wonder how desperate a Michigan fan had to get to imagine such a thing.
