Browns will part ways with Kareem Hunt

Cleveland almost dealt Kareem Hunt before the trade deadline, but held back due to a lack of compensation. The Browns could come to regret that, especially if Hunt receives the deal he wants elsewhere, and starting reps as well.

Hunt will never be the main back in Cleveland. Nick Chubb is in the same backfield. Using both players is a luxury the Browns have had for the last few years, but much of that was due to Hunt’s checkered past. With that seemingly behind him in the minds of NFL executives, Hunt could receive another opportunity as a starting running back for a team that needs one.

That will not be on the shores of Lake Erie, as the Browns would be silly to have that much money tied up in their backfield. Hunt was primarily used as a goal line and third down back late in the year, signaling that he was being phased out of the Cleveland offense. Chubb is the better player, and therefore the better investment.

There is no bad blood between Cleveland and Hunt. It’s just time to move on.
