2. Jimmy Garoppolo

This may be a controversial opinion, but Jimmy Garoppolo would be a better fit for the Jets than Carr. The Raiders quarterback may have a higher overall ceiling than his 49ers counterpart but Garoppolo is what New York needs.

The Jets had a Top 10 defense in ESPN FPI this season. The thing holding them back was a Bottom 5 offense in terms of efficiency. Injuries were certainly part of that but Zach Wilson wasn’t going to fix that while Mike White being better than Wilson doesn’t make him a viable QB going forward.

Next year, they’ll have a healthy Breece Hall at running back and offensive Rookie of the Year candidate Garrett Wilson at wide receiver. They just need a quarterback who can keep things simple and not lose football games.

Garoppolo took the 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2019. He got them to the NFC Championship Game in 2021.

Those 49ers teams were built on defense. The Jets can follow the same roadmap to success with Garoppolo taking care of business on offense.
