Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett IV revealed what head coach Kirby Smart said after giving him the curtain call in the CFP National Championship Game.
The Georgia Bulldogs could not have had a better game on Monday, Jan. 9. In the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, Georgia successfully defended their title after blowing out the TCU Horned Frogs 65-7. The game was so in-hand, that senior quarterback Stetson Bennett IV played a little more than three quarters before receiving a curtain call after being pulled by head coach Kirby Smart.
During his postgame interview with ESPN’s Holly Rowe, Bennett revealed what it felt like when he received his curtain call in the biggest college football game of the season.
“That was special, I’ll remember that for the rest of my life,” said Bennett.

Rowe then asked Bennett what Smart said to him when the two embraced after he was removed from the game.
“He just told me he loved me,” said Bennett.
How bout them Dawgs? Celebrate Georgia going back-to-back with gear.
It was quite the way for Bennett to bring an end to his playing career at Georgia. Not just the curtain call, but he received the Offensive MVP award in the CFP National Championship Game. He led the Bulldogs offense to point on every one of their first-half drives. He picked apart the TCU defense and even ran in for a couple of touchdowns himself.
Bennett completed 18 passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns on just 25 attempts while running for 39 yards and two touchdowns on three carries.
He also made some history in his final game. With his passing yards total in the CFP National Championship Game, Bennett broke Georgia’s single-season passing yards record with 4,127. Aaron Murray previously held the record, throwing for 3,893 yards in the 2012 season.
There couldn’t have been a better way for Bennett to end his playing career at Georgia. He won back-to-back national championships, broke Georgia’s single-season passing yards record, and he got to receive a standing ovation in the biggest game of the year.
