Raiders opponents relish the chance to face Josh McDaniels

The Las Vegas Raiders won’t love the latest report regarding head coach Josh McDaniels. Mainly, opposing defenses love playing against him.

Josh McDaniels has evidently made a lot of enemies in the NFL, dating back to his days with the New England Patriots.

McDaniels survived the firing purge that is Black Monday. As a first-year head coach, it would’ve been a surprise if he were let go — though the Denver Broncos didn’t reflect that sentiment with Nathaniel Hackett.

Nonetheless, McDaniels will be under the microscope next year in Vegas. If he doesn’t succeed, expect Mark Davis to act swiftly, as he’s tired on waiting for a consistent contender in the Sin City.

Per Mike Girardi of NFL Network, McDaniels is far from the offensive force he used to be:

"Talked to a defensive coach of a team that played the Patriots with McDaniels as OC and then this year, “With Josh, you never knew how he was going to attack you and with what pieces. This season, we didn’t feel they stressed us at all. Simple approach. Easier to plan & defend.”"

Will the Raiders succeed with Josh McDaniels?

Las Vegas has a long way to go with McDaniels. His previous stint in Denver did not end well. One would hope he learned from that experience.

The Raiders primary offseason question is what they will do at the quarterback position. Derek Carr has one foot out the door, and Vegas is expected to force him the rest of the way. Carr is on the trading block, with the Raiders ready to take on the highest bidder.

Josh Jacobs is also a free agent, but Vegas can afford to re-sign him with the money left behind from the Derek Carr trade, whenever that takes place.

Year 2 could be the first year of a McDaniels success story, or further proof that he’s destined to remain an offensive coordinator.
