3 Lamar Jackson trade destinations that haven’t been mentioned yet, No.1: Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders have let it be known that they are in the quarterback market before the 2022 season even ended.
After a Week 16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Raiders announced that they were benching Derek Carr for the final two games of the season in favor of Jarrett Stidham. It was then reported that the team was looking to either trade or release him by Feb. 15, before $40 million in salary for the next two seasons became guaranteed. At the end of the season, Carr released a statement to say farewell to the Raiders fanbase, confirming his exit from the organization that drafted him in 2014.
The Raiders have been reportedly linked to Tom Brady, who is set to become a free agent. The fit is obvious, considering his former offensive coordinator with the New England Patriots, Josh McDaniels, is the head coach.
Jimmy Garoppolo could also be a possibility, since he was with McDaniels in New England as the backup to Brady before being traded to the San Francisco 49ers in 2017.
Let’s not forget that the Raiders are in solid position to select a quarterback in the first-round of the 2023 NFL Draft, as they hold the No. 7 overall pick. That pick could be used on Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, or Will Levis. But what if the Raiders used that pick on a veteran quarterback and former MVP in the league?
The Raiders have the draft capital to make a big trade. Why not use it on Jackson? That would certainly make the AFC West that much more interesting by throwing Jackson in the same division as Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Russell Wilson.
