Predicting the best free agent the Washington Commanders will sign: Irv Smith Jr., TE

Two areas the Washington Commanders have fairly strong weapons are at wide receiver and running back. Between Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Curtis Samuel, Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson, the offense has a good amount of names.

The one area that’s up in the air? Tight end. Logan Thomas has struggled with injuries and he’s also getting up there in age. Beyond Thomas, Washington may not have a long-term, sure-fire answer at the position.

Because the Vikings traded for T.J. Hockenson, they will surely let go of Irv Smith Jr. Washington will be a perfect spot for Smith to try and revitalize his career after he, too, has struggled with injuries.

The former first rounder still has plenty to prove and time to do so, and Washington has a need at the position. If Smith can stay healthy, he has a chance to become the guy Washington can count on.
