3 Bills who won’t be back and who will replace them
By Scott Rogust
The Bills have long needed to address the running back position in their years of Super Bowl contention. They did respond at the trade deadline, as they acquired Nyheim Hines from the Indianapolis Colts. Yet, it wasn’t enough to provide a boost to Buffalo’s offense.
Devin Singletary had been Buffalo’s starter since he entered the NFL as a third-round draft pick in 2019. In each of his four campaigns, Singletary has averaged over 4.4 yards per carry, but has never eclipsed the 1,000 rushing yards mark.
This regular-season, Singletary ran for 819 yards and five touchdowns on 177 carries in 16 games. In the playoffs, Singletary rushed for 72 yards on 16 carries.
Singletary could be easy for the Bills to re-sign. But let’s not forget that they did draft James Cook last year. Not to mention, they could improve the position in the offseason.
Bills best replacement options for Devin Singletary
- Bijan Robinson (NFL Draft)
- Jamaal Williams (Free Agency)
If the Bills wanted to run the offense through Cook, they could choose to add one of the top red zone running backs in the NFL this season in Jamaal Williams. But, if they really wanted to find their answer to their rushing woes, they could select Biijan Robinson out of Texas. Robinson would be quite the addition to the Bills offense, and he could alleviate some pressure off of quarterback Josh Allen.
