Scouting Report. Jim Harbaugh. player. 123. Pick Analysis. HC. Michigan Wolverines. 4

Jim Harbaugh’s NFL track record is undeniable and he could thrive with the Cowboys

This isn’t just milking the Jim Harbaugh to the NFL rumors for all their worth. This is a dream scenario and that means we get to look at the man who said he’s staying at Michigan (again, for the second straight offseason) and imagine a world where Jerry Jones comes to him with a big check and says that he’s the man to make up for all of Mike McCarthy’s misdeeds as the head coach.

On the whole, there are some people who would argue that Harbaugh would be a good fit in Dallas. However, if he were able to retain the likes of Kellen Moore and/or Dan Quinn on the staff, those concerns would be alleviated to a degree. And Harbaugh proved during his previous stint in the NFL and while at Michigan as well that he’s able to develop talent, put guys into positions to succeed, and maximize what he has.

There’s maybe a 2 percent chance that Michigan has been better than Ohio State these past two seasons. Yet, in the rivalry matchup, the Wolverines haven’t just eked out wins, but have thoroughly dominated the matchup. Harbaugh deserves a boatload of credit for that, constructing a program and team capable of overcoming a superiorly talented foe with relative consistency.

But you only need to skim Harbaugh’s resumé from his time with the 49ers to know that this isn’t limited to college football. He was in San Francisco for four seasons and accrued a 44-19-1 record along with three straight NFC Championship Game appearances and one Super Bowl appearance. That’s more than enough credentials to think he could take the Cowboys to higher heights.
