National Signing Day 2023: Predicting where Top 10 unsigned recruits land
By John Buhler
3. Nyckoles Harbor, Athlete, Archbishop Carroll (Washington, DC)
Nyckoles Harbor is the No. 1 player from Washington, D.C., the No. 1 athlete in the country and the No. 19 overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting cycle. Harbor projects as an edge rusher at the collegiate level. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound five-star has 42 official offers, but is primarily looking at these four teams: Maryland, Michigan, Oregon and South Carolina, with the latter as the favorite.
Though Michigan and Oregon could be in play for him as well, this feels like it will come down to either nearby Maryland or South Carolina. Harbor may have just visited Oregon, as well as been to Georgia in the last two months. However, South Carolina is trending up as a program and has developed a great deal of defensive line talent in recent years. The Gamecocks are the favorite.
Georgia and Oregon may push Maryland and South Carolina, but he will rock the garnet and black.
Prediction: South Carolina
2. Duce Robinson: Tight End, Pinnacle (Phoenix, AZ)
Duce Robinson is the No. 1 tight end in the country, the No. 1 player from Arizona and the No. 17 player nationally. The five-star from Phoenix has 28 officials, including Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, Texas and USC. He took official visits to Oregon, but it seems like it will be coming down to one of two schools for the five-star tight end from Phoenix: Georgia and USC. Where will Robinson go to?
He is not going to make a bad decision by going to either place. Lincoln Riley is one of the most innovative offensive minds in college football. USC is way closer to Phoenix than Georgia. However, whoever Todd Hartley wants at tight end, he gets. He is losing Darnell Washington from Las Vegas to the NFL Draft and Brock Bowers from Napa is about to be turning pro after this year.
This is the one to watch on National Signing Day, but Robinson will be a champion with the Dawgs.
Prediction: Georgia
1. Cormani McClain: Cornerback, Lakeland (Lakeland, FL)
Cormani McClain is the No. 1 cornerback in the country, the No. 3 player from Florida and the No. 13 overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting cycle. The five-star defensive back from Lakeland is 6-foot-2 and 165 pounds. While he has 26 official offers, McClain has been committed to Colorado since Jan. 19, 2023 after decommitting from Miami. This is the Coach Prime effect at its fullest.
Traveling across the country to go play for Deion Sanders sounds crazy for a five-star from Florida, but Coach Prime is poised to do big things in Boulder. To not only have a chance to play for the greatest cornerback in the history of football but to have a chance at turning around a perennial doormat is too good to pass up. McClain will be one of the guys expected to help turn around CU.
Do you really think McClain is going to tell Coach Prime he is not coming after committing to him?
Prediction: Colorado
