Todd Monken could make the jump back to the NFL with the Cowboys

Already in this coaching cycle, we’ve seen Georgia Bulldogs offensive coordinator Todd Monken get interviews with the likes of the Ravens and Bucs, and the Cowboys should undoubtedly enter that conversation as well.

Monken has plenty of NFL experience as an offensive coordinator having served in that role for Tampa Bay from 2016-18 and for the Cleveland Browns in 2019. And really, there are times when it feels like he hasn’t gotten his due. For instance, in the 2018 season with the Bucs, the offense ranked 12th in DVOA despite the team going just 5-11 on the year and with the combination of Jameis Winston and Ryan Fitzpatrick combining for 26 interceptions on the season.

His star has been back on the rise at Georgia, though, as he’s joined Kirby Smart’s staff and helped guide the Dawgs to back-to-back national championship victories, doing so with Stetson Bennett IV at quarterback, even if the talent around the former walk-on quarterback has been undeniably immense.

It’s clear that Monken knows how to squeeze every last drop out of the talent at his disposal on offense and his schematics are truly incredible to see with the ways he gets players open and puts everyone in a favorable position. With the talent that the Cowboys have, that could make for something special if Dallas can swoop him and steal him from other interested teams this offseason.
