Tulane is favored to repeat out of the Group of Five because of Michael Pratt

For as much praise as Grayson McCall garners at Coastal Carolina, it is long past time for us to do the same with Michael Pratt at Tulane. There were signs two years ago that this signal-caller was something special. Entering 2023, the Green Wave are coming off a 12-win season, an AAC Championship, won the Group of Five and beat Caleb Williams’ USC Trojans in the Cotton Bowl.

Pratt is one of those quarterbacks who is calm under pressure and seems to thrive better than most in winning time. No team the Greenies go up against is too daunting for the Wave to roll on over. With head coach Willie Fritz sticking in New Orleans for the foreseeable future, it would not be shocking if Tulane repeated out of the Group of Five before making the playoff in two seasons.

As far as his potential NFL Draft stock is concerned, Pratt needs to build off the last two years to make him anything more than a mid-round prospect. The good news for him is Tulane has our collective attention. More importantly, traditional AAC powerhouses Cincinnati, Houston and UCF have all gone Power Five. This leaves Tulane in a fantastic position to go dominate The American.

If you are going to talk about big-time players in big-time moments, Pratt has to be among them.
