5 Packers players who could follow Aaron Rodgers out the door
If the Packers enter a post-Rodgers rebuild, Adrian Amos doesn’t make sense
Talk to just about any Packers fan about one of the biggest and also most surprising issues the team had in the 2022 season that led to them disappointingly missing out on the postseason, and they’ll tell you that the safety play dropped off tremendously.
When Green Bay first brought Adrian Amos into the fold, it was an absolute steal for the franchise. He was a perfect compliment for young Darnell Savage and immediately upgraded the back end of the secondary in a way that allowed for a true uptick on the defensive side of the ball for this team. That, of course, was not the case this season.
He struggled mightily more often than not in coverage and in his tackling, which is obviously a major issue. Now his contract is set to expire with the safety hitting free agency this offseason. If Aaron Rodgers is playing somewhere else or not playing at all, why would they run it back by paying for a safety who didn’t work out for them this past season and is only getting older?
Heck, even if Rodgers were to stay in Green Bay, an argument could be made that Amos is gone. It seems that, as this team is going to need massive changes one way or another, that the safety will not be coming back to play his home games at Lambeau Field.
