Livid Peyton Manning, trolling Davante Adams go after Pro Bowl refs
By Scott Rogust
AFC head coach Peyton Manning and receiver Davante Adams went after the referees after their loss in the Pro Bowl Games on Sunday.
The first edition of the revamped Pro Bowl Games concluded on Sunday, one week ahead of the Super Bowl. This year, the traditional tackle game that was criticized for lack of effort was replaced with skills competitions and three flag football games.
The AFC was coached by former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, while the NFC was led by former New York Giants signal caller Eli Manning.
On Sunday, it all came down to the third and final flag football game. The NFC picked up the 35-33 victory to give the win to Eli.
Don’t tell Peyton that it was just the Pro Bowl, because he was absolutely livid that NFC quarterback Kirk Cousins kneeled down to ice the game. Peyton argued that that should be a penalty since you can’t run the ball inside the five-yard line, which Cousins retorted by saying he was told he could do that.
As Peyton was yelling at the referees, you can spot Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson waving goodbye to the AFC squad.
Peyton Manning, Davante Adams call out officiating in Pro Bowl
Peyton really wanted that win over Eli.
Manning wasn’t the only one to criticize the officiating. Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams poked fun at the officiating by using the “NFL is scripted” meme that came to prominence after the AFC Championship Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals.

This is now the NFC’s first Pro Bowl win since the 2012 season. That win was before the Pro Bowl went unconferenced from the 2013 season until the 2015 campaign before returning to the AFC vs. NFC format in 2016.
Well, now it’s his younger brother that will have bragging rights for the next year. We can imagine that Eli will pester Peyton about it during episodes of the Manningcast next season.
