Tom Brady gifts Patriots fans ultimate retirement gift with surprising podcast guest
By Josh Wilson
Tom Brady released the first episode of his podcast since retiring last week. His first guest since the big news was a reunion Patriots fans will love.
Tom Brady is off to a fast start in retirement. Though there is some question about whether or not he could pull another fake-out based on when he plans to join the FOX broadcast booth, it appears he’s retired. And enjoying it.
Brady, who spent 20 years with the New England Patriots, has had a tense — at best — relationship with New England since he migrated south. The team’s recycled farewell for him this year and his immediate shutdown of a New England return ever being in the cards shows you that no matter how far the two sides have come, some things are not yet forgotten.
With his first podcast episode since his retirement, though, Brady brought along a very special guest, and a surprising one at that: his former longtime head coach, Bill Belichick.

Hearing this duo chopping it up is, quite simply, everything for Patriots fans. The days of the dynasty are obviously long past, with Brady having spent the last three full seasons in Tampa Bay.
But there was lingering animosity, or at least the perception of such, between Brady and Belichick after the split. Now, we know there is at the very least, some active respect between the two.
Belichick, known for being short, dry, and to the point (if not completely guarded) in his media availability, was also uncharacteristically verbose during the episode. That’s what happens when you have a chance to talk about the greatest quarterback of all time that you had a chance to work with for two decades, and you know it’s finally over. For good.
Here’s a snippet of what Belichick had to say about Brady:
"“We had a really good relationship, especially in the film room and talking football and all that, that I’ll always treasure and I learned so much from him. Nobody sees the game better than Tom Brady sees it or saw it, and I was so lucky to learn from him and his vision. No other coach will get that experience. I mean, it was incredible.”"
The entire podcast can be listened to here. It’s a necessary hearing for all Patriots fans.
