Conor McGregor roasts UFC 284 main event on Twitter

Never one to hide his true feelings, Conor McGregor has given his less-than-favorable opinion on the UFC 284 main event.

UFC 284’s main event will see Alexander Volkanovski, the UFC featherweight champion, square off against Islam Makhachev, the UFC lightweight champion. Volkanovski is the UFC’s top-ranked pound-for-pound fighter, with Makhachev right behind him in second on the same list, prompting the UFC to advertise this match as a bout not just for the lightweight title, but also for the “pound-for-pound crown.”

Conor McGregor appears to have taken exception to this, taking to Twitter to call the fighters involved, “Wafflers.” McGregor of course has never been one to keep his feelings hidden, notoriously being a Twitter account to watch during UFC pay-per-views.

Conor McGregor makes his return to action in the lightweight division later this year.

It was announced in January that McGregor would be making his return to the UFC this year, after being a coach for the upcoming season of The Ultimate FighterHe will be matched up against Michael Chandler in the show and will find himself across from Chandler in his return to the Octagon.

McGregor’s last two fights have been losses, one a knockout at the hands of Dustin Poirier, and the other a TKO after suffering a brutal leg injury against Poirier as well. In total, McGregor has lost three of his last four fights, being finished in all three of those losses. His only victory since 2016 came against Donald Cerrone, who he knocked out in the first.

Chandler is also coming off a loss, having suffered a submission loss to Poirier as well. He has also only won one of his last four fights, a knockout victory over Tony Ferguson. Chandler is overall 6-5 since 2016 between Bellator and the UFC.
