Steelers who could be cut after the NFL draft: William Jackson III

It may not be in the first round but the Steelers will take a cornerback during this year’s NFL draft.

Pittsburgh also needs to free up cap space to resign CB Cam Sutton and with William Jackson III’s current contract that would be surely impossible.

The Steelers brought Jackson III in after his struggles in Washington with the hopes that a new scenery would elevate his play. When asked about his struggles in Washington, he referred to himself as a press corner that was trying to get comfortable with zone coverages. He would end up getting hurt before he could even touch the field as a Steeler.

When on the field and healthy, Jackson III is a good veteran corner, but not for the current price tag. Plus, he’s now over 30 years old and time isn’t on his side.

Jackson III’s time with the Steelers has been essentially nonexistent because of his inability to stay healthy last season. He received a monster contract from the Washington Commanders that Pittsburgh now has to deal with. Due to his big cap hit and minimal production last season, the Steelers will look to draft a CB and cut Jackson III after this year’s NFL draft.
