Yale vs. Penn prediction and odds for Friday, February 17 (Bet the under)

Yale and Penn meet tonight with just four games remaining until the Ivy League Conference tournament for both teams.

Yale and Princeton have been the top dogs in the Ivy League this season, with the Bulldogs (17-6, 7-3) just inching out the Tigers (16-7, 7-3) for the top spot.

But Penn has been no slouch. The Quakers (14-11, 6-4) are just one game behind Yale in conference play and have won five straight games.

Will Yale hold its season-long form atop the conference? Or will Penn continue to ride its recent hot streak?

It’s not just Penn that’s riding a hot streak into tonight. Something’s gotta give as the Bulldogs have won six straight entering this matchup.

One of those six wins was a 70-63 win over Penn at home that went back-and-forth all the way to the final minutes.

Yale and Penn have been virtually identical in several categories this season, including points per game, field goal percentage, rebounds per game and assists per game.

However, there are a few key categories where Yale has an advantage. The Bulldogs allow 9.5 less points per game on average while also averaging 1.1 more blocks and 1 more steal per game.

Even with that defensive advantage, though, the last time these two teams met, the Bulldogs couldn’t pull away for much of the game on their home court, where they are 9-1.

Now facing Penn on the road and favored at -2.5 on the spread, this game could again be decided late, and that’s why I like Yale moneyline (-140) and not with the spread.

I also see some value in taking the Under 143.5.

These two teams combine to score 150 points on average, but also combine to allow just 133 points. When they played this season they combined for 133 points in a competitive game.

Even if they combine to score 10 more points this time around, you’re still safe with taking the Under 143.5.
