Raiders could make it a true all-in offseason with a Jalen Ramsey trade
No team in the AFC has more cap space than the Las Vegas Raiders coming into the 2023 offseason. The club has the third-most cap space in the league right now, set to have $48.36 million at their disposal this offseason. Of course, there is the little issue at quarterback that some of that money is going to be used toward.
Whether it’s Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson, Jimmy Garoppolo, Mac Jones or whoever isn’t Derek Carr, though, this is a roster that needs a lot more than just a new quarterback in order to contend, particularly in the loaded AFC West. And one of those needs is definitely at cornerback.
Las Vegas was one of the worst pass defenses in the league this past season and is losing Rock Ya-Sin as a free agent as well. It’s an area where many expect the team to make an upgrade this offseason and there are a number of avenues that they could explore to make that happen. At the same time, though, if they plan to already make a splash at quarterback, why not do so in the secondary as well?
Trading for Jalen Ramsey would be massive and, on top of that, seems like it would be a great fit. Ramsey is often boisterous and that seems to be the type of figure who would be beloved by the Raiders fanbase, especially if he can perform like one of the top players at the position in the league.
