2. The Patriots could trade for Jalen Ramsey

The Los Angeles Rams are trying to find a home for star cornerback Jalen Ramsey. He’s making a ton of money, and we have no idea what the Rams are going to be this season. The Rams went from champions to one of the worst teams in the NFL last season. Injuries across the roster made the team unwatchable.

Ramsey has commented on his availability, although he usually deletes tweets tied to a possible trade. Players have targeted Ramsey in trade rumors, but the Patriots make a lot of sense here. Jonathan Jones is expected to make big money in free agency. Jabril Peppers might return, but he’s also a free agent.

The Patriots need a cornerback who can lead the defense. Belichick’s defense is at its best when it has a superstar at the position. After losing Stephon Gilmore and JC Jackson in recent years, the Patriots need to replace him. Jonathan Jones played admirably, and Marcus Jones and Jack Jones were good too, but Ramsey is on another level.

Ramsey had another great season despite a rough start. Most might not know how well he played since he did most of his damage when the season was lost. Ramsey could still really help a team. The Patriots could flip Hunter Henry to the Rams. Tyler Higbee is alright, but Henry would do better with Matthew Stafford. Plus, it helps the Patriots match salaries.
