3. Top Free Agent Targets For The Giants – WR D.J. Chark

There wasn’t a team in the NFL last season that had less talent in the receiver room than the Giants. Kenny Golladay found himself in the doghouse early on and Sterling Shepard suffered a season-ending injury in Week 3, leaving Richie James and waiver claim Isaiah Hodgins as Jones’ top pass catchers by the end of the season.

While James and Hodgins are good depth pieces, the Giants will need multiple pass-catchers to improve in 2022. The free agent market isn’t loaded with a ton of No. 1 options, but New York can build a deeper group by signing a solid veteran and drafting another receiver.

One of the more intriguing options on the board is D.J. Chark, who had a good bounce-back year with the Detroit Lions in 2022. Chark caught 30 passes for 502 yards and three touchdowns, a good sign after a fractured ankle ended his 2021 season in Week 4 with Jacksonville.

Giants’ fans may not be thrilled about the idea of signing another receiver from Detroit but Chark’s contract should be a lot more affordable than what Golladay’s ended up being. Chark can offer a vertical element to the New York passing attack and fill the role that Golladay was supposed to in Daboll’s offense.
