4. Top Free Agent Targets For The Giants – S Jordan Poyer

This would constitute a Buffalo reunion as both Schoen and Daboll were with the Bills for most of Poyer’s tenure. One of the most talented safeties in football, Poyer is likely to get priced out of Buffalo’s preferred budget and the Giants could definitely explore the addition of him in the secondary.

New York did get some solid safety play out of Xavier McKinney and Julian Love this season but Love is a free agent. There is a world where retaining Love makes sense, but Schoen should be looking to upgrade his roster and not simply run it back for another season.

Poyer is an upgrade over Love and has plenty of experience in big games, which will be important as a young team looks to win right now. The Bills saw Poyer become an All-Pro last season and earn a trip to the Pro Bowl this season but he does have some injury risk after missing five games in 2022.

New York does need playmakers on defense and Poyer certainly fits the bill after racking up 22 interceptions and 44 passes defensed over his six-year Bills’ tenure. Schoen knows exactly what he would be getting in Poyer so expect the Giants to heavily pursue him in free agency.
