Packers perfect offseason plan step 3: Target OL and S in the draft

If the Packers add a wide receiver and a tight end in free agency, their biggest remaining needs would be offensive lineman and safety. Luckily, this is a strong draft class for both positions.

At No. 15, the Packers will likely be out of range for top offensive tackle Peter Skoronski. Florida’s O’Cyrus Torrence is an excellent option. Torrence is the best guard in the class. Over his last three collegiate seasons, he has given up zero sacks and only one quarterback hit in 2,206 total offensive snaps, per PFF. At the NFL Combine, he was the only guard to be measured at 6’5″ or taller and weigh 330+ pounds. The Packers could trade down and select Torrence late in the first round.

With Adrian Amos hitting free agency, safety is a major need. Alabama’s Brian Branch is an option in the first round. Last season, he posted an 89.5 PFF grade. Day 2 options include Texas A&M’s Antonio Johnson and Ohio State’s Ronnie Hickman.
