NFL rumors: Eagles free agency could get worse

The Philadelphia Eagles were a half away from being Super Bowl champions. Then, Patrick Mahomes happened.

Philly had an elite defensive line last season, leading the entire league in sacks. They demonstrated that dominance throughout the NFL Playoffs, except for the Super Bowl. Philadelphia could not get past a stout Chiefs offensive line.

Nonetheless, that does not mean they should tear the entire defense down to the studs and start from scratch. So far this offseason, Philadelphia has already lost Jason Hargrave, T.J. Edwards and Marcus Epps from that group. C.J. Gardner-Johnson could be next, if social media is to be believed.

Gardner-Johnson has started following several prominent Denver Broncos on Instagram. Yes, it’s only IG, but that means something these days.

Per Spotrac, Gardner-Johnson could earn up to a five-year, $66.6 million contract. It’s unclear if the Eagles are willing to pay that much for his services.

Gardner-Johnson is also being recruited by the Cincinnati Bengals — a fellow playoff team which just lost Jessie Bates to the Atlanta Falcons.
