2. Yankees prospects who deserve a roster spot soon: Jasson Dominguez, OF

He’s been making noise of late, so we might as well talk about one of the New York Yankees’ top prospects — Jasson Dominguez. Signed out of the Dominican Republic for over $ 5 million, it appears as though Dominguez is finally starting to live up to the unreal expectations that were heaped upon after signing in 2019.

Dominguez, who’s just 20 years old, followed up an underwhelming 2021 season with a terrific showing in 2022. Last season, Dominguez slashed .273/.375/.461. It’s that last number that interests the New York fanbase.

Dominguez had been tabbed as having plus-power and finally showed it with 46 extra-base hits in 2022 including 16 round-trippers. The Athletics’ Keith Law (subscription required), grades Dominguez’s speed, power, and defense at 70 on the scouting scale (20-80).

New York’s outfield is a bit jumbled at the moment with Aaron Judge, Aaron Hicks, Oswaldo Cabrera, and Harrison Bader. But with Bader already out of the lineup due to injury, all it would take is the right set of circumstances for Jasson Dominguez to make it to the big leagues;.
