NFL rumors: Lamar Jackson’s possible next HC won’t say no to QB

With Lamar Jackson officially wanting out of Baltimore, one team who has been tied to him of late are the Indianapolis Colts. They have replaced the Atlanta Falcons as the team everybody and their brother is trying to get him traded to. However, the biggest difference in all this is the Colts haven’t exactly said no to the idea of adding Jackson. Head coach Shane Steichen is not saying no.

Although the Colts have the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, they are going to get at best the third-best quarterback in the draft. This is because the Carolina Panthers leap-frogged them to the top of the draft, while the Houston Texans are in prime position to land their next star at the position picking No. 2 overall. Jackson is a better option over Will Levis and Anthony Richardson.

Given that Steichen had great success with a mobile quarterback at the helm of the Philadelphia Eagles in Jalen Hurts, it would be easy to see Jackson running his offense. More importantly, the Colts’ offensive strengths are in the ground game, and not the passing game. Simply put, what Jackson did in Baltimore under Greg Roman would be easily replicable for the Colts under Steichen.

No matter what happens, the Colts cannot screw up their quarterback evaluation for another year.
