4. Casey Thompson, Nebraska

Casey Thompson transfer to Nebraska from Texas last year but he went 4-6 while throwing 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

However, his performance wasn’t good enough to guarantee him a starting gig, especially since he missed spring camp with shoulder surgery.

He’ll be behind Jeff Sims in terms of learning Matt Rhule’s offense and considering the way the new head coach has talked about Sims potential, that could spell his doom.

If the writing is on the wall that Sims is the guy for Rhule, another transfer for Thompson can’t be ruled out. The clock is ticking on this one because he only has one season of eligibility left and he probably doesn’t want to spend it as a backup. Some of the other quarterbacks on this list don’t have as much of the urgency to get going as Thompson.
