3 teams that need to go get Budda Baker, No. 2: Cincinnati Bengals

Remember this offseason, Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo was a candidate for the Cardinals’ head coaching vacancy, which would have seen him potentially coach Baker. How about Baker joining Anarumo in Cincinnati?

The Bengals are a legitimate contender in the AFC with Joe Burrow leading the way as their starting quarterback. But on defense, they do need some help. Their biggest contributor in the defensive backfield is no longer there in Jessie Bates III, as he hit free agency after he and the team could not reach an agreement on a contract extension. Bates did not get hit with the franchise tag, which allowed him to sign a four-year, $64.02 million contact with the Atlanta Falcons.

Last year, Bates recorded 71 combined tackles (38 solo, 33 assisted), eight passes defended and four interceptions, while allowing 19 receptions for 309 yards and four touchdowns on 37 targets, per Pro Football Reference. Meanwhile, Baker posted 111 combined tackles (75 solo, 36 assisted), seven passes defended and two interceptions, while allowing 30 receptions for 282 yards and three touchdowns on 40 targets.

Cincinnati is in a position where they need to make big moves, especially if they want to get to the Super Bowl. Bringing in Baker would be quite the splash move for them.
