Georgia defensive lineman Bear Alexander entered the transfer portal on Saturday and already it’s clear which school has the inside track to land him.

The college football transfer portal opened for its spring window on Saturday. It didn’t take long for a fresh wave of players to dive right in with hopes of finding new opportunities.

The number of players who entered right away was no shock. What was a bit of a surprise was the entrance of Georgia defensive lineman Bear Alexander, who had two sacks in the national title game.

The former four-star recruit had been tabbed to replace Jalen Carter. Instead, he announced his intentions to leave Georgia just before the Bulldogs kicked off their spring game.

Where will Alexander land? College football insiders are already signaling the answer: USC.

USC football is the one to watch for Georgia transfer Bear Alexander

Both Connor Riley of DawgNation and Rusty Mansell of Dawgs247 named USC as the one to watch shortly after Alexander’s transfer announcement.

USC’s defense technically won their spring game on Saturday, 42-34, but the biggest win of the April would definitely be getting a player like Alexander, who has three years of eligibility remaining.

Simply put, the Trojans didn’t have that kind of beef in their front seven last year when the defense fell off a cliff in the second half of the season. They’ve made moves to correct that, adding Arizona transfer Kyon Barrs and Texas A&M super recruit Anthony Lucas via the transfer portal.

The size and power Alexander would bring to the table could take the defensive line to the next level.

Riley’s reporting suggested Alexander was unhappy with his place in the rotation this spring at Georgia. At USC, there’s no doubt he’d be heavily used.

When it comes to high profile transfers, NIL always seems to be in play as well. The fact that USC just announced a new NIL collective called House of Victory is worth noting.

The transfer portal closes on Apr. 30, so Alexander has until then to make his decision.
