MLB Rumors: Braves finally get some reinforcements

The Atlanta Braves are receiving some reinforcements in the form of their ace, Max Fried. The Braves are somehow 12-4, first in the NL East, despite the number of injuries they’ve dealt with so far this season.

The Braves are one of the more consistent forces in baseball under Brian Snitker. He has led them to another stable start, even if some of his lineup decisions are curious to say the least.

Fried will make his second start of the season against the San Diego Padres on Monday. It’s unclear who will be sent down when Fried is added to the roster, but Atlanta’s rotation has done a capable job without him, proving they have the depth necessary for the long haul of a 162-game season.

Snitker would not confirm or deny if Fried has any pitch count restrictions against him in his first start off the injured list:

“You have to use common sense and see, and take it inning to inning,” Snitker said. “We’ll watch for stressful innings, things like that.”

Ironically enough, Fried was selected by the San Diego Padres with the No. 7 overall pick before he was acquired by the Braves some time later. On Monday, the NL Cy Young candidate will make his long-awaited return against a team that surely wishes they’d held onto him in the first place.
