Jordan Battle. 3. 49. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. S. Alabama. player

Jordan Battle could be crucial to the Packers secondary’s success

With the loss of Adrian Amos in free agency, one of the needs that Green Bay needs to be honed in on over the first two days of the 2023 NFL Draft is the free safety spot. And Jordan Battle seems like a frequent pick for the Packers in many an NFL mock draft, but that’s for good reason.

While the Alabama product isn’t going to wow anyone with his athleticism, he was a longtime starter and leader for the Crimson Tide defense who consistently graded out well in coverage. His football IQ is off the charts and he puts himself in good positions to win coverage reps at virtually all. He could be a Day 1 starter for the Pack and fill a big-time need.

Pick Analysis. IDL. Kobie Turner. player. Scouting Report. Wake Forest. 4. 49

Landing Kobie Turner in Round 4 is a coup for the Packers defense

If Kobie Turner weighed 300 pounds instead of 290 (or perhaps a bit less in terms of playing weight), there’s no chance he would be available on the start of Day 3. But that’s the way things might crumble for the Wake Forest product given the size thresholds of many teams, but that works to Green Bay’s benefit.

There is a need for impact players on the defensive front here and Turner can be that. An explosive pass rusher who is more than solid against the run, putting him in a rotation at the end spot with Devonte Wyatt and Kenny Clark would make for a fearsome triumvirate.

CB. Eli Ricks. 4. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 49. Alabama. player

Packers have the capital to take a swing on former 5-star Eli Ricks

When you look at Eli Rick and, more importantly, watch the film from him at both LSU and Alabama, you see the flashes of a true high-end NFL cornerback. The issue was that he never fully put the whole thing together in his college career.

In the late fourth round, however, the Packers would be wise to take a swing on a player like Ricks. They don’t have a true need at cornerback but, frankly, you can never be too deep in the secondary. So taking a high-upside player like Ricks and hoping they can develop and mine the best out of him is a wise course of action.
