New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge suffered an awkward injury on his birthday against the Minnesota Twins.

After an awkward slide into third base, New York slugger Aaron Judge suffered a gnarly hand injury against the Minnesota Twins.

Judge, who celebrated his birthday with a bases-clearing double just moments earlier, suffered the ailment while trying to poach a base off Twins pitcher Kenta Maeda.

The 31-year-old was seen writhing in pain after sliding to avoid the tag from Minnesota third baseman Willi Castro. It’s unclear if Judge, who is the designated hitter on Wednesday, will leave the game.

Aaron Judge injury: Everything Yankees fans need to know

It appears Judge may stay in the game after all, as he remained in the dugout after being looked at by trainers briefly in between innings. Judge, who entered the day with six home runs and a .244/.337/.488 slash line coming off his record season in 2022, signed a record-setting contract this season to remain with the only franchise he’s ever played with.

Judge very nearly signed with his hometown San Francisco Giants, hence the Arson Judge jokes, but instead hashed things out in a late-night phone call with Yanks owner Hal Steinbrenner. He was then named the team’s first captain since Derek Jeter.

The extent of Judge’s injury is unknown at this time, but after a brief check-up by the team trainers, he was back in the team dugout with an elbow guard to match, per Bryan Hoch.

Here’s the hoping the defending AL MVP is in good shape moving forward.
