Teams that should stop Will Levis slide: Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders could use a young quarterback that could emerge as the future face of the franchise. Derek Carr didn’t pan out the way Vegas wanted, now he’s in New Orleans. Vegas brought in Jimmy Garoppolo on a three-year deal to replace him, so the timeline here would be similar to Seattle.

Jimmy G has plenty of traits he can use to impart wisdom to Levis. He started his career as a backup, and performed well in that role beneath the legendary Tom Brady. His patience earned him a real opportunity in year three, so his timeline would be well-aligned with Levis.

He’s also seen what it takes to get to, and win a Super Bowl, after emerging beyond the backup duty. Granted, his two Super Bowl wins were as a second-string in New England, but he did lead the Niners to a Super Bowl appearance in 2019.

Garoppolo is not an elite quarterback, but he’s performed at an above-average level with consistency. It’s easy to see Levis fitting that same mold, though his ceiling is higher. Partially, is Garoppolo’s success a product of the Shanahan offense? No doubt, but you can’t credit all of his accomplishments in San Francisco to just that.

Vegas desperately needs an identity after its Vegas move and parting of ways with Carr. Levis has a virtually blank canvas to help create if he lands here once Jimmy G hands off the keys.
