Steelers fans roast Cardinals for saltiest NFL schedule troll job
By Scott Rogust
The Arizona Cardinals decided to troll their 2023 opponents and showed they are still salty about their Super Bowl 43 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
On May 11, all 32 NFL teams unveiled their schedules for the 2023 season. Each organization’s social media teams got to show off their creativity to try and set their schedule reveals above the rest.
The Arizona Cardinals‘ social media team decided to have some fun in the hours leading up to the unveiling. They tried to troll their opponents this upcoming season by comparing them to songs. The first team up were the Pittsburgh Steelers, and they decided to place a photo of Santonio Holmes’ Super Bowl 43-winning touchdown catch alongside a screen cap of the song “One Foot” by pop band Walk the Moon.
Yes, the Cardinals are still salty about the end result of that Super Bowl. And let’s just say that Steelers fans noticed, and they responded in kind.
Steelers fans roast Cardinals for still being salty about Super Bowl 43 loss
Super Bowl 43 nearly resulted in the Cardinals winning their first ever Lombardi Trophy. It certainly looked that way after wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald scored a 64-yard touchdown to give Arizona a 23-20 lead with less than three minutes remaining in regulation. But, then the Steelers went on a 78-yard drive.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger connected with Holmes on a six-yard pass to the back corner of the end zone and it was called a touchdown. After a review, the touchdown was confirmed, giving the Steelers the 27-23 lead. Pittsburgh held on for the time remaining to clinch their sixth Super Bowl title.
The Cardinals didn’t specifically take target at the Steelers, they trolled all of their opponents. But when it came to the Steelers and pointing out Super Bowl 43, those who cheer for Pittsburgh told the social media “admin” to get over it.
