2. Jewell Loyd, G, Seattle Storm

For the first time in her career, Loyd will not have Breanna Stewart and Sue Bird on the court with her. Their absences leave Loyd with plenty to prove this year.

As the number one option in Seattle, Gold Mamba will lead a vastly different team with lower expectations than what she’s used to, as Seattle has entered a bit of a rebuilding phase. The team has rostered a tremendous amount of youth, and likely won’t be competing for much this year. That said, Loyd still has plenty of reason to prove her worth as a standalone talent.

Loyd becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season, and could follow in Stewart’s footsteps to a big contract on a contender elsewhere. Or, she could secure another hefty deal from Seattle and lead them into the Jewell Loyd era. Either way, she has to prove that she’s capable on her own this year.
