The Dude of the Week, man: Liam Hendriks and Michael Soroka are absolute champions!

I know that I am more than capable of being a horse’s ass writing God knows what for FanSided, especially in this column of sorts, but I’m gonna keep it 100 here with y’all right now. Cancer sucks, and I’m glad Liam Hendriks kicked its ass. His return to the Chicago White Sox was an amazing moment in what looks to be another lost year for those on The South Side. Hendriks inspires hope.

And while it’s not cancer, tearing your Achilles is absolutely agonizing. Michael Soroka tore the same one twice. My beloved Calgary Flame made his triumphant return to the Atlanta rotation on Memorial Day. Even though the Braves lost to the Oakland Athletics, and needed to win yesterday afternoon to avoid a humiliating sweep, this is what baseball is all about. For the love of the game.

Even if you use comedy to cope with some of the more challenging and unsettling things in life, these are the type of moments that lift your spirit and encourage you to keep on keepin’ on. Life’s a garden, dig it. While the Buffalo Bobs of the world are going to try to put the Joe Dirts of the world back into the hole, you have to be relentless and persevere so you can get to Silvertown.

When life gives you snakes and sparklers, make the best of the roadside fireworks show you got!
