With some MLB teams already playing more than 60 games, we are well past the time when fans and managers can say, “It’s still early,” when discussing a player’s struggles.

With that in mind, there are three MLB players who are key to their team’s success who have surprisingly struggled in 2023. So how high is the panic meter when it comes to Ozzie Albies of the Atlanta Braves, Willson Contreras of the St. Louis Cardinals and Trea Turner of the Philadelphia Phillies? Let’s dive into the numbers and trends to find out.

MLB Rumors: Panic meter for Ozzie Albies, Atlanta Braves

Of the three players listed in this article, Albies is perhaps the one with the least amount to worry about, and that’s a very good thing for Braves fans.

Albies showed good signs on Sunday against one of the best pitchers in the National League (Zac Gallen of the Arizona Diamondbacks), helping elevate the slash numbers he had put together in the last 15 games (.200/.268/.360). Albies was the catalyst for the Braves in Sunday’s comeback win, going 4-for-5 with a home run and a pair of RBI.

Braves fans are hoping that Sunday’s numbers are a sign of things to come as the calendar turns to June. Since his debut in 2017, June has been statistically the best month of the season for Albies, posting a career .288/.338/.524 slash line in 403 plate appearances.

We think that’s exactly what will happen, which brings the panic meter for Albies way down.

Panic meter: On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest, we’ll give it a 3.
