Cardinals Rumors: Nolan Arenado is frustrated
Nolan Arenado and Adam Wainwright have made their frustration known throughout the Cardinals current skid, which is at five and counting. They are 2-8 in their last ten games, and sit in last place in the NL Central, which at this rate, is a very winnable division. St. Louis is eight games back of the Milwaukee Brewers as of this writing.
After yet another defeat, Arenado voiced his concern on Monday.
“It’s frustrating,” Nolan Arenado said of the then-four game skid. “We’re in a bad stretch again right now.”
Adam Wainwright, who has preached urgency time and time again in what is likely his final season with the Cardinals, isn’t seeing it pay off on the field.
“I don’t think ‘concerned’ is the right word,” said Wainwright, h/t the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “I think ‘pissed’ is the right word. I think everyone is pissed at a lot of different things. We come in here and we look around and we’re like, ‘What the heck?’ Some things can’t be explained. You’ve just got to go and perform.”
This comes just a few weeks after John Mozeliak preached patience from the fanbase. Now, even the players can’t stay on task.
“The one thing I’d ask from our fan base right now is a little bit of patience, because we do think that we do have the talent to win,” Mozeliak said in late April.
Just over a month later, and that patience has no paid off. The time to do something — anything, really — was a long time ago. Instead, Mozeliak was sitting on his hands.
