5-star cornerback and Georgia commit Ellis Robinson IV is set to visit Alabama this weekend, but given everything we know, a switch of commitment seems unlikely.

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide haven’t given up hopes of swaying 5-star cornerback Ellis Robinson IV away from the Georgia Bulldogs.

In fact, Robinson IV, the fourth-best recruit in the 2024 class according to On3, is set to visit Alabama this coming weekend. For a program that is no stranger to elite defensive back talent, it’s not a shock that they’re trying to land one of the biggest fish in the 2024 recruiting pond, especially at the expense of taking him from their biggest national and SEC competition.

But the odds of actually landing Robinson IV seem unlikely.

Despite the odds, Alabama is unwilling to give up on 5-star Ellis Robinson IV

Less than a month ago, Robinson told Chad Simmons of On3 that, if he were to ever go elsewhere, it would be to play for Miami. Robinson IV has also only been in contact with one coach at Alabama.

That hasn’t stopped the Crimson Tide from their aggressive approach with the 5-star corner.

Should Saban and his staff pull off the unlikely in flipping Robinson, the allure of this acquisition would be creating a nightmare for opposing passing offenses. This pipe dream puts Robinson and Alabama commit Jaylen Mbakwe, the two best cornerbacks in the class of 2024, on the same side of the field.

At the moment, the Crimson Tide currently have the fourth-ranked recruiting class in the Class of 2024, and this move would be an instant upgrade to their defensive firepower. It would also give Alabama the chance to take a talented corner away from the Bulldogs.

For the last few years, it has been defenses that have defined the difference between Georgia and Alabama. And for now, this remains a pipe dream for Saban and Co. that they could steal one of Kirby Smart’s top recruits from their top-ranked 2024 class, one they appear unwilling to give up on just yet.
