Alabama legend Greg McElroy thinks we’d be foolish to sleep on the Crimson Tide this year.

While the Georgias and Ohio States of the world are getting so much love, what about Alabama?

ESPN’s Greg McElroy may have played for the Crimson Tide, but even his slight bias doesn’t matter in this equation. There is so much to like about the 2023 team in Tuscaloosa. I am not saying the Tide are going to win the national championship, but we are no doubt sleeping on them. I fully anticipate for the Crimson Tide to win around 11 games and play in a New Year’s Six bowl.

Listen to what McElroy had to say about Alabama, and try not to be as big of a believer as we are.

Georgia may run the sport now, but if not the Dawgs, then you have to go with the Crimson Tide!

If you are one who dabbles in the market like I do, buy Alabama stock. You are not going to get a better price for a Nick Saban product that is for some reason being discounted than right now. I mean, if they don’t lose to LSU for the second year in a row, they are going to Atlanta. From there, yes, they can definitely beat the Dawgs in their backyard. This is all about how well they recruit.

The most convincing part in McElroy’s argument is when have the Tide been grossly marginalized by their quarterback play? He is incredibly self-aware and pointed at himself in 2010, but even in the earliest days of the Saban era when McElroy was backing up John Parker Wilson, they still got good play out of the position. Frankly, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Bryce Young’s successor thrive.

What it really comes down to is who separates themselves from the pack in newcomer Tommy Rees’ offense, whether that be Jalen Milroe, Ty Simpson or even Notre Dame transfer Tyler Buchner. No matter who it is, no, I don’t think Alabama will be undermined by its quarterback play this season. Although they may not win it all, you’d be stupid to not be so bullish on the Tide, too.

Alabama may not have the ceiling of a Georgia or an Ohio State, but the Crimson Tide are so elite!
