It wasn’t pretty, but it got the job done. For the Bengals, that’s all you can ask for.

Cincinnati was punched in its mouth early in the game, going down 14-0 to the Jacksonville Jaguars, but was able to fight its way back to a 24-21 win. The Bengals leaned on rookie kicker Evan McPherson to come through in the clutch again -- as McPherson hit a game-winning field goal in Week 1 against the Vikings.

On the Jaguars side of things, tonight has to be as hurtful as it gets. They played the best football they’ve played all season and still left with the loss -- dropping their record to 0-4. Trevor Lawrence has never lost this much in his life, literally, and now has to figure out how to save the season.

The good news is that Lawrence played a good game, which should be reflected in his Rookie of the Year odds, once they get posted.

The win puts the Cincinnati Bengals at 3-1 and puts the pressure on the rest of the AFC North going into Sunday. That division was, prior to tonight, a three-way tie between the Ravens, Browns and Bengals. With the Bengals winning, now the two teams that were considered Super Bowl contenders before the season -- Ravens and Browns -- have to keep up with Cincinnati.

Cincinnati gets to rest for the next nine days in preparation for the Green Bay Packers, which will be a true test of how good this Bengals team is. The Bengals were +1000 to win the division coming into tonight. WynnBET will update the odds accordingly, which should see a boost in the Bengals’ odds to be AFC North champions. Until then, Joe Burrow is going to sit back and laugh about how he gave his former coach another “L” on his professional resume.
