U.S. Open Round 1 3-Ball Bets (Fade Short Hitters in First Round at Brookline)
All of my full-tournament bets are locked in for the U.S. Open.
I've got everything you need, from outright bets, to longshot picks, to matchup bets, to hole-in-one props.
Now, let's focus on some bets just for the first round, which is set to take place on Thursday, June 16th.
3-ball bets are wagers on a certain golfer to finish with the best score amongst the group (threesome) that he's playing with that round.

Odds listed below are consensus.
Best Round 1 3-ball Bets for the U.S. Open
- Russell Henley +155 vs. Brian Harman/Kevin Kisner
- Scottie Scheffler +135 vs. Cameron Smith/Brooks Koepka
- Matt Fitzpatrick +135 vs. Dustin Johnson/Webb Simpson
Russell Henley +155 vs. Brian Harman/Kevin Kisner
You may not believe it, but Russell Henley ranks second on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: approach. He may struggle with his putter at some points, but his tee-to-green play is amongst the best. He also finished T13 at the US Open last season, so he's had success at this event.
Neither Brian Harman or Kevin Kisner are built to succeed at U.S. Opens. They're both golfers who rely on accuracy off-the-tee, but in order to shoot low at courses set up by the USGA, you need distance off the tee. Kisner ranks 171st in driving distance and Harman ranks 180th. Fade them this week.
Scottie Scheffler +135 vs. Cameron Smith/Brooks Koepka
Scottie Scheffler is paired up with two golfers who I wrote in my "who should you fade" article earlier this week.
Cameron Smith's play off the tee is going to hurt him this week, and his poor history at US Opens backs that claim up. Meanwhile, Koepka is one of the most overrated golfers on the Tour this year, and I've already ranted about him on an earlier episode of the Daily Betslip this week.
I'll back the No. 1 golfer in the world in this 3-ball group.
Matt Fitzpatrick +135 vs. Dustin Johnson/Webb Simpson
Matt Fitzpatrick is one of my outright bets this week, and he's grouped with the third golfer I wrote about fading this week. Dustin Johnson hasn't played well since the Masters, and he couldn't even win the first LIV Golf event that was filled with one of the weakest fields I've ever seen.
Webb Simpson is seemingly past his prime, and hasn't finished better than T20 in a single event in the 2022 calendar year.
Fitzy leads the Tour in total strokes gained, and I love him to get off to a quick start on Thursday.
