Although the New Orleans Saints have a question mark at quarterback with Derek Carr, there should be optimism about the franchise if they can readjust the culture of the locker room and focus on getting back to the basics on both sides of the ball. A productive offseason could yield a postseason bid and, from there, everyone knows that anything is possible in the NFL.

If the Tampa Bay Buccaneers can win a playoff game with Baker Mayfield, then why can't the Saints?

As the Saints get ready to reexamine their process and return to dominance in the NFC South, there are three key veteran players who should remain with the team in 2024 instead of being allowed to walk in free agency this spring.

3. Andrus Peat, OL

Former first-round pick Andrus Peat isn't the superstar offensive tackle he once was, having made three straight Pro Bowls from 2018 to 2020, but he remains an asset to the New Orleans Saints offense because of his versatility and left tackle and left guard.

A solid pass protector, Peat has been an established starter in New Orleans for several years, and replacing his leadership wouldn't be easy either.

Peat can help protect Derek Carr from the interior, and it would make sense for the Saints to keep him around instead of voiding his contract, cutting into their offensive line depth.
